Meditation Strengthens the Brain

UCLA has been conducting research for years on the effects of meditation on the brain. Increasingly, that research is showing that meditation strengthens the brain.

If you know a little about brain anatomy, you know that the cortex is composed of many layers of folds. The research has shown that long-term meditators have more of this. It's believed that this may allow the brain to process information more quickly. This folding is called gyrification. The longer you meditate, the more gyrification you have.

Yet another benefit to meditation. And evidence for the brain's ability to change throughout life

  1. Thanks for sharing. I find meditation to be a healing experience where you're able to connect with your inner thoughts. It does take a few attempts to be able to shut off from the outside world though!
